If it look one-sided, and feels one-sided, then it probably is . . . one-sided

Negotiation apparently means “compromise” for Democrats and perhaps a more sinister term for Republicans.  “Leverage” might be the definition internalized by Republicans ( could be a euphemism for “extortion opportunity” or “Democrat weakness”).  Let me be clear—I am tired of this arrangement.

I know the new debt ceiling vote isn’t complete, yet . . . but, the newest debt ceiling legislation feels like a loss for Liberals.  We have two votes for the debt ceiling (albeit the second vote is watered down in teeth, but will be a press-generating opportunity for Government-killing Tea Party legislation).  The legislation cuts spending—by TRILLIONS.  The legislation does not raise any revenues.  ZERO.    And, there is a vote for a balanced-budget Amendment to the constitution to be scheduled—also, a press-generating opportunity for ultra-conservatives.  It appears as if the Republicans got everything they wanted.
When we review the spoils of the Democrat-side of this deal, we have:  uhhhm, the promise to leave Medicare and Entitlement cuts alone . . . .  Yep—that is all, folks.  That, and the ability to get back to work.

There was a time in our not-so-distant past when an evil dictator rolled tanks into the Czech Republic and claimed that it was his to take.  The world, at the time, gave it to him.  They told that evil dictator, and his ideology, that we won’t fight you on Czech Republic issue if you promise to not take any more countries.  Of course, he promised and was happy at how easy his first conquest had been.

The evil dictator and his ideology were lying.  He would use the newfound leverage to wield uncertainty and indecision amongst the leaders of the rest of the world and as a springboard for his attacks.  Many, many people had died before the world was moved to respond.

My first message is to Democrat politicians.  Please learn from history.  Placating Hitler did no good.  His singular focus of conquest and extermination outweighed all logic.  His greed for power erased his ability to compromise.  Democrats—you have to do better.  You MUST take a stand.  Protecting entitlement programs from the chopping block is NOT A VICTORY.  It is merely the best outcome of a catastrophic loss.

There is no reasoning with Republicans, Conservatives and Tea Party members—their singular desire to hunt-down and eradicate the people who utilize entitlements is non-stop.  The want all of the poor, minorities, sick, elderly and young to get out of their way while they make money.  There is no village in their distorted view of the world—merely profit margins.  They will happily poison the town well, because they are selling water and will make a larger profit without the competition.

Republicans, Conservatives and Tea Partiers are driving the United States, whether they know it or not, into a tribal/feudal state—where the tribes are multinational corporations with their own armies, bottomless pools of lawyers and lobbyists, unlimited money, and not a single person to be held accountable in a court of law.

My message to Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, the poor, the elderly—anyone who does not generate money (or value) for those multinational corporations is simple.

The Lowden Plan–Chicken Counter

Nevada Senate candidate Sue Lowden (R) has made some absurd claims during her recent bid for Nevada Senate.  Her most famous is:

Let’s change the system and talk about what the possibilities are. I’m telling you that this works. You know, before we all started having health care, in the olden days, our grandparents, they would bring a chicken to the doctor. They would say I’ll paint your house,” she said. “[That’s] what people would do to get health care with their doctors. Doctors are very sympathetic people.   [Source: Talking Points Memo]

A surprise externality of this lovely talking point has been the meme that Susan Lowden is suggesting that we trade chickens for heath care services–you know, because Insurance Companies and Doctors are so generous with their services.  To help understand the gravity of Lowden’s concept, someone has created the Lowden Plan Chicken Counter–to help us get a general sense of how many chickens we would need for certain procedures.  Of course, if you can find a doctor who will accept chickens in exchange for medical procedures . . . we would love to know.  In the meantime . . . you should check it out.

Republican “Party of NO”–GOP Obstructionism Hits an All-Time Record: 97 Blocked Nominations (In a Single Day)

Today marks a special moment for the GOP “Party of No.” It objected to 97 Presidential nominees in a single day. The idiocy of the Republican Party (as well as the shamelessness) has no ends . . . .

Thanks for the video from the Huffington Post

Cheers to bi-partisan solutions . . . .

An open letter to conservatives

Have you ever wanted proof that the Republicans have lost sanity, clarity, and have become virulent and hurtful? (It is in this article.) Do you feel that one party has become so hypocritical and hurtful that they are destroying America and the democratic process–to further their political agenda?  (Proof is in this article.)  Do you feel that sometimes your politicians simply don’t reflect your values?

Well, proof is in this article.

Republican Apology Generator–To Rush Limbaugh

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has created an online tool to help the members of the Republican Party generate apologies to the almighty Rush Limbaugh.  The controversy is provided by Rush Limbaugh openly hoping on his national radio program that President Obama fails in with his stimulus package and pulling the country out of the recession (he obviously still has a job, health insurance and plenty of food in his cupboards).  The apology generator was created by Democrats only a few days after Republican-party criticism against Rush Limbaugh was rescinded by: Congressman Phil Gingery (R-GA), Governor Mark Sanford (R-SC), and RNC Chairman, Michael Steel. (Here’s a whole list of articles at USA Today about it).

I think the apology generator is an ingenious invention.  While having fun and tinkering with the options, I can see what it feels like to be a member of the modern day Republican Party–forced to swallow the ill-concieved and self-centered rhetoric of a few loud-mouth, evangelical wing-nuts as if it were medicine and somehow good for me.  Free will be gone.  It’s the party-line, or it’s nothing.

Conservative Talk Show Host, or Jabba-the-Hut?

Republicans and the bounty hunters that serve them have been taking orders from this guy for too long.  In a recent picture, it sparked something . . . .

America, Conserative Watch, Politics, Sarah Palin

Kathleen Parker on Sarah Palin | If BS were currency, Palin could bail out Wall Street herself.

When the conservative commentaries start to ask for their candidates resignation, the situation is bad.

Kathleen Parker is a conversative commentator, and a self-admitted fan of Sarah Palinat first.  The message that she has now is quite different.  She argues that is Sarah Palin loves her party, and loves her country, that she needs to step down because she is “out of her league.”

Palin’s recent interviews with Charles Gibson, Sean Hannity, and now Katie Couric have all revealed an attractive, earnest, confident candidate. Who Is Clearly Out Of Her League.

No one hates saying that more than I do. Like so many women, I’ve been pulling for Palin, wishing her the best, hoping she will perform brilliantly. I’ve also noticed that I watch her interviews with the held breath of an anxious parent, my finger poised over the mute button in case it gets too painful. Unfortunately, it often does. My cringe reflex is exhausted.

Palin filibusters. She repeats words, filling space with deadwood. Cut the verbiage and there’s not much content there.

Take heed.  This is an example of the conservatives taking a big bite of humble pie.

Kathleen Parker had said earlier in the month that Sarah Palin is a “perfect storm of God, Mom and apple pie.”  Less than a month later to change her opinion is quite a flip-flop, or perhaps this is damage control for a political party staring a losing strategy in the face (lies, lies, and more lies–say whatever you have to to win).

Or, perhaps Sarah Palin is too religious (her relationship with her Pentecostal church is a bit too probelematic) and that she is too quick to be decisive–often times without enough information.  In fact, her behavior might be mildly reminiscent of the guy who got us into this place to begin with . . . .

On a more base level, perhaps Republicans are realizing that their candidate is lying to them . . . and don’t want to be inplicated.

Regardless of what the reasons may be, this is the first conservative calling for what the liberals have generally understood about Palin–she was a game changer to win ratings and votes, and McCain’s campaign managers didn’t care much about the consequences . . . .

John Stewart | GOP Plays the Gender Card with Sarah Palin

This clip was sent to me by a friend . . . and, it was so good I had to watch it twice.

This clip is CLASSIC GOP!  There is double-speak from Karl Rove, Bill “Pappa Bear” O’Reilly, and Dick Morris from the McCain Campaign.

Watch Karl Rove praise Sarah Palin for being the Mayor of the 2nd largest city in Alaska (population 9000) and then let’s go back a few weeks.  On Video footage from only ONE MONTH PRIOR, Rove belittles potential Obama VP pick, Tim Kaine for being the Mayor of Richmond, VA, Lt. Governor of Virginia, and ultimately the Governor of Virginia–and states how the Mayor of a town of +$200,000 people is CLEARLY not fit to be a heartbeat away from the President.

Pappa Bear O’Reily tells us how teen pregnancy is problem faced by many Americans, and we should not be passing judgement.  But, in a prior clip, that same benevolent and repectful pundit calls the parents of the youngest Spears “Pinheads” (even displaying their picture) because they obviously do not have any control over their children and Jamie Lynn Spears was pregnant at 16 years old.

Dick Morris‘ words may be the most blatant of the double-speak.  After abhorring the “sexism” in the media, we flash backward to December of 2007 where he says that Hillary cannot simply pack up her toys and go home when the “Big Boys” are picking on her.  “What happens with the “Big Boys” who run the Middle East, and the “Big Boys” who run Russia start picking on her.  She won’t be able to simply hide behind her apron strings.”  APRON STRINGS!?!?!?

McCain’s Senior Policy Analyst, Nancy Pfotenhaur, says roughly the same things as Morris: We are not being sensitive to Palin, and yet she was cautioned Hillary Clinton–“it would be a terrible mistake for Hillary to play this “victim card.”

Lastly, the 6-minute clip finishes with some nice words from Sarah Palin herself.  She is lecturing a female politician and saying simply this: your “whining” isn’t helping us women.  If you are complaining that you are in politics and people are not treating you fairly, DO MORE.  Work Harder.

Sounds great . . . on paper.
